Down Time!

Brian had some time off this weekend, so we got to hang out, and relax. The weather was not much for getting out in, so we did stay in some, which was a nice thing, because we just got to rest. Sometimes the body needs this. We did get away on a date on Saturday, which was nice because we had been in all day. We headed to Norman for some Cheddar's. All I can say is "YUMMY"!! I haven't ate at a Cheddar's in so long, probably since we lived in Tulsa. The spinach dip is great, along with the chicken fingers, great ice tea too. We really wanted to get their famous "cookie monster" dessert, but couldn't seem to find the room, maybe next time. We headed to a couple of my favorite stores after that, one of which we don't have on the North side. Did a little shopping then headed home. It was a great night out with my hubby. We talked, and laughed, and relaxed.

Sunday we had the day off, so we headed out for a family breakfast. Our choice always seems to be Jimmy's Egg. I usually splurge on breakfast, because I don't fix that kind of stuff at home, but I do remember growing up on it. Some great cooks in my family, and I miss that kind of food sometimes. Although, if I ate it all the time, I would be in trouble. Let's see, hash browns, white gravy, biscuit, egg, bacon, coffee (I did share some with the kids). Brain was good, with some egg whites and oatmeal. We headed out afterward to a favorite place of mine as well. Great day off. Down time together is priceless!!!

Belly Laugh!

Have you ever had one of those moments that you and your spouse look at each other, and just bust out laughing, until you almost cry. Well, we have had some moments like that lately with our Isabelle. As she approaches the 4 year mark, she seems like she is growing more into a little girl, conversing more, and just thinks for herself. I thought I would share a couple of these moments today, on this cold, snowy morning. Maybe it will give you a good laugh.

The kids new thing they like to eat is popcorn. Really any occasion will do. Watching a movie, or snack, they don't seem to mind. The other day, Brian, myself, and Ian had made some popcorn and settled down on the couch (Isabelle was still taking a nap). All of a sudden we hear, "ok guys, I smell it, what's going on". Brian and I looked at each other and laughed so hard. She was so serious too. She wanted her own popcorn. So we all settled in with some on the couch.

The other thing the kids have been "into" lately is dinosaurs. We had just gone to the zoo the previous day, and they had a new dinosaur exhibit. We were in the car, and Isabelle started to talk about dinosaurs. Asking if they would eat her, we said no, they weren't real and proceeded to explain about them. She responded, "I think they will eat me, then Jesus will have to make me again." Again, Brian and I looked at each other and began to laugh out loud. She proceeded to talk about how Jesus would make her fingers, legs, and so on all over again. It was amusing to us she thought Jesus could just make her all over again. The faith of a child.....
We laughed, and were amazed at how her little mind is thinking.

Hope this gave you a laugh today! Keep warm and safe, if you got weather like we did.

Kite Flying Fun!

This past weekend, we decided to do a little kite flying, or at least give it a go. I had gotten the kids some kites for their Easter baskets, but we decided to break them out a little early, because the weather was so nice, and the wind was just right for flying a kite. The first one we tried, we broke, or the wind broke. The second one proved to be a winner though. The kids had so much fun!! They each got to hold the string by themselves, and their faces said it all, they thought they were so big and doing something great by themselves. Brian actually got the kite pretty high up in the sky, and he was having just as much fun as the kids were. We will probably be buying one for him next time too. Ian was holding it one time, and the wind took it right from his little hands, all three of them started running down the street and yelling, one of those moments I wish I would have had my video camera. It was really funny. They caught up with it at the end of the street finally. It is so much fun to watch the kids have new adventures and experiences. I love watching them!! Hope to do more kite flying when it warms up some.

1st Zoo trip of the Season!!

This weekend we made our first trip of the season to the zoo, with some friends, and a few hundred others. The zoo was a lot busier than I had expected for this time of year. This day was suppose to be nice and warm, so we thought we would give it a go. We got there and the wind was blowing and it was a little colder than expected, but by the time we ate lunch it was turning out to be a nice day (plus the wind had gone down.) The kids both seemed to really enjoy it this time. They both seemed interested in the animals and what was going on. The new thing was the dinosaur exhibit. The kids were really excited about this one, until we actually got there. Ian was scared, but quickly became ok with it. The dinosaurs moved a little, and made noises, I think that is what scared him. Izze was a little scared as well, but again, quickly warmed up to them, and wanted to touch them. The kids also got their first taste of cotton candy. Izze didn't seem to like it, but Ian was asking for more. Brian and I enjoyed some as well, it had been years since I have had cotton candy. All in all it was a fun day, we can't wait to go back.

Trip to see the Clydesdales!!

Today, our mom's group headed to Yukon to see the Clydesdale horses. Isabelle was really excited to see them, until we actually "got" to see them. Both her and Ian were glued to me, I couldn't move because they were holding on so tight. Ian didn't even want to see them in their stalls. He would turn his head away from them, and say, "horses scare me". Isabelle just held on to my leg. I think she really wanted to pet them, but was just too intimidated by them. They were really big, but beautiful Clydesdale horses. They got to see a zebra, and some small horses and they liked that better, although, it was on the other side of the gate. They both pet a doggie, but even the doggie snapped at them some, by that time, I thought it was time to go. It was a very beautiful day to be out there though. Maybe next time they will be up for petting them. The little horse statue out front worked for both of them though. LOL

Sick bug, Sick bug, Please go away.......

Well, the sick bug has hit again. We had two different Doctors appointments yesterday, and we were at the pharmacy two different times yesterday as well. Today, looks to be the same with two more doctors appointments. I usually never go to the Doctor, but my throat is so sore, I think I need too. Ian has an ear infection that infected one of his eyes, so he is on antibiotics. Izze is the only one who doesn't seem to be sick, just a little runny nose, but that seems to be a constant at times. All our usual activities have been put on hold for this week, except a few. Ian is not contagious, so that is a plus. Looking forward to a healthier weekend.

I have so much I need to post, maybe today. Hope everyone keeps healthy.
